Recently, we published a post titled “Using new technologies in poetry publishing” where we spoke about polypoetry. We also embeded a video of Joerg Piringer at Propost Festival in Barcelona. Joerg Piringer is also a developer of Apps for iPad, iPhome, iPod touch & Mac. We’ve bought an App developed by him: Realbeat. We’ve been playing with it and we’ve really enjoyed it. This is the App which has entertained us the most and the more creative and inspiring that we’ve downloaded.

First impression

When we first execute the App we could feel a little overwhelmed by the quantity of options this App has. After playing with it for 3 minutes, we’re able to understand how it works. So there’s no need for a “how to” in this App - it is really intuitive and easy to use.

Record sounds and then create songs with them

This App lets you record sounds of your environment (yourself, your dog, your fridge, your neighbour) and then lets you play with these sounds. You can modify them, experiment with them,… Add text (then a computer voice reads it), etc.

Infinite possibilities

What surprises us the most of this App is that it brings us infinite possibilities. We can record as many sounds as we want, we can modify them as we want,… Then we can save the projects and load them whenever we want. We also can export the projects or record in .wav format what we’re doing. We understand this App as a tool to create music: songs, polypoetry, sound poems… [hr_invisible]

Examples

We’ve recorded some experimental ‘songs’.

This one has been created with a project which already comes with RealBeat App:
